Canon has been the world's best-selling camera brand for decades — and with over 800 products it is also one of the cornerstones of our range: EOS R bodies, classic DSLRs, over 300 RF and EF lenses, cinema cameras and the much-loved PowerShot compacts.
Why a used Canon?
With Canon, buying used pays off twice. In the DSLR era the brand built so much equipment that the supply is large and the prices are sharp, while the quality of L glass and pro bodies barely ages. A 5D workhorse or an EF prime that was professional gear fifteen years ago still does that job today — for a fraction of what it cost then. The brand's move to mirrorless pushes DSLR prices down a little further every year, while that same EF glass simply starts its second career on an R body through an adapter. And every copy that lives on never has to be made again.
RF, EF or compact?
- EOS R (RF mount) — the present and the future. The EOS R6 Mark II is the most sought-after all-rounder, with the R5 and its successors for anyone after resolution and the R8 as the light full-frame entry point.
- DSLR (EF) — the enormous EF arsenal stays fully usable on every R body through the EF-EOS R adapter: often the smart used route to top glass.
- Lenses — the RF 24-70mm f/2.8L and RF 70-200mm f/2.8L top the list, with the RF 24-105mm f/4L as the versatile companion and classic EF glass as the price bargain.
- Compact & cinema — the PowerShot G7 X series is almost impossible to keep in stock used, and filmmakers also find Cinema EOS gear with us.
- For beginners — a used EOS R8 or a late DSLR model with a kit lens is a complete start for the price of a new entry-level zoom.
What we look for in used Canon
Our specialists know the weak spots of every Canon era. On heavily used pro bodies we judge the shutter extra critically and list the shutter count wherever it can be read out. On L zooms we check the IS group (audible when worn) and the glass under bright light for fungus and scratches; on older grips and lenses we check the rubbers, which can go soft on Canon after years. If you buy EF glass for an R body, the adapter behaviour has been tested too, and on the PowerShot compacts we check the zoom and flash mechanism — the places where such a camera shows wear first. The full findings are listed with the product, with photos of the actual copy and a 12-month warranty.
