How it works From purchase to warranty.
Every camera goes through our workshop before it reaches you. This is how we work.
Buying second-hand raises questions. What happened to that camera before it reached us? How do you know the listing is accurate? And what if something is wrong?
On this page you can read exactly how we work, from buying to warranty.
From buying to selling
1. We buy
Every camera we sell, we bought ourselves - from private sellers, from photographers switching systems, and from businesses renewing their kit.
We sell nothing on behalf of others. You buy from us, and you come to us if anything comes up.
2. We inspect
Every camera goes through our workshop. We check the operation of every button and function, the state of the glass, the sensor, the body and - where applicable - the shutter count.
Whatever we find, we note. A scratch, a stiff dial, dust between lens elements - it all goes into the description.
3. We grade the condition
Based on that inspection, the camera receives a condition grade: from New to Heavily used. The grade covers the exterior and the optics; the functioning must be in order at every grade.
What each grade means exactly, and which imperfections come with it, is on the product conditions page. There you will also find the limits we apply - how many dead pixels a sensor may have, for instance, or how precisely a control dial must still work.
4. We photograph
Every item is photographed individually. No sample photos, no manufacturer images. What you see in the photos is the camera you receive - with the traces of use that come with it.
5. We put it online
With the condition, the photos, the specifications and everything we came across during the inspection.
If anything is out of the ordinary, you will read it in the description. We find it more important that you know what you are buying than that a listing looks pretty.
What you get when you buy
Warranty. 12 months on second-hand equipment, 24 months on new. You can extend that period during checkout. Read more at warranty and repairs.
Fourteen days to change your mind on online orders. If the camera turns out not to be right for you, send it back. See shipping and returns.
Insured shipping. We ship with tracking and full insurance. While your parcel is in transit, it is our risk.
Someone you can call. 085 301 83 32. We will literally pick the camera up if you have a question about its condition.
When you sell to us
That process is set out too, so you know where you stand.
You request an offer based on the model and condition. If you accept, we send you a shipping label - shipping is free and transport is at our risk. We inspect your camera and confirm the offer, or make an adjusted proposal with the reason attached. You may decline it; in that case we return your equipment free of charge.
The full process is on selling and trading in.
Why we do it this way
Second-hand only works when both sides know what they are getting.
A seller who describes their camera too rosily gets an adjusted offer and is disappointed. A buyer who finds a surprise sends it back and is a customer lost. Either way, it costs everyone time.
That is why we put as much as possible in writing: what the conditions mean, what is and is not covered by the warranty, and what we consider normal wear. Not to cover ourselves, but because clarity up front means less discussion afterwards.
