Ordering from another country? The checkout automatically shows the payment methods common there as well - such as EPS in Austria, Bizum in Spain or Blik in Poland.
In our showroom
If you visit us, you can pay by debit or credit card. Cash is also welcome, up to € 3,000. That applies both when you buy from us and when we buy equipment from you. Above that amount, payment is made digitally.
Buying for business
If you are buying for a business, enter your VAT number during checkout. We will state it on the invoice.
Please note: the vast majority of items in our shop are margin-scheme products. No VAT is itemised on those, and it cannot be reclaimed. That is not a choice we made but a consequence of the VAT margin scheme, which applies to second-hand goods we buy from private individuals.
Items on which VAT is charged are marked as such on the product page.
A margin-scheme product goes into your books like any other purchase
A margin-scheme invoice is a normal invoice. You book it as a business expense and depreciate the item just like any other purchase; the full purchase amount counts towards your taxable profit. The only difference from a VAT invoice: there is no VAT to reclaim - but when you later sell the item on, there is no VAT to remit either.
If you buy an item with VAT, you reclaim that VAT, but when you later sell the item you remit VAT on the sale price. What you gain up front, you largely hand back at the end.
New or second-hand: what makes sense for your business?
The short answer: second-hand without VAT usually ends up cheaper over the full cycle, for businesses too. Below is the maths for anyone who wants the details.
This is where the comparison usually goes wrong. Say a camera costs € 2,500 new and € 2,000 at our shop as a margin-scheme product. Many business owners reason: "if I buy new I reclaim € 434 in VAT, so new effectively costs me € 2,066 - barely any difference, might as well buy new." But that calculation stops too early, because it forgets the resale.
Say you sell the camera after two years. By then the resale price is virtually the same for both - a two-year-old camera is worth what it is worth, regardless of whether you bought it new or second-hand. Say € 1,600.
| New with VAT | Second-hand margin scheme | |
|---|---|---|
| Purchase | € 2,500 | € 2,000 |
| VAT reclaimed | € 434 | - |
| Sale after 2 years | € 1,600 | € 1,600 |
| VAT remitted on the sale | € 278 | - |
| What it really cost you | € 744 | € 400 |
Over the full cycle, the second-hand camera is considerably cheaper. That is mainly because the steepest drop in value happens in the first year - and the first owner pays for that, not you.
