Hasselblad is medium format at its most beautiful — and used, it suddenly becomes attainable. Our range holds around 265 Hasselblad products: modern X-system cameras, classic V-system bodies, XCD and Carl Zeiss lenses and a wide shelf of accessories and backs.
New, a Hasselblad is a dream for most; used, it becomes a serious option. The new price of an X system drops sharply after a few years, while the sensor and the XCD glass keep their class — a used X1D II costs less than many a new full-frame body, with the larger sensor included. And the analogue V system has been proving for seventy years that a Hasselblad has no expiry date — there is no more sustainable purchase imaginable than a camera from before you were born that still works every day. And since the brand has been expanding the X line seriously, the flow of trade-in copies is growing too — good news for anyone wanting to step in now.
X system or V system?
- X system (digital) — the X2D 100C is the flagship and the X1D II the accessible entry into digital medium format.
- 907X — couples a digital back to the classic design: the best of both worlds.
- V system (analogue) — the 500C/M and related bodies remain timelessly sought after; loose backs, finders and parts are continuously in our range.
- XPan — the panoramic classic rarely comes in and is usually gone quickly.
- Lenses — XCD glass for the X system and the classic Carl Zeiss lenses for V, both with the characteristic leaf shutter in the lens.
What we look for in used Hasselblad
We inspect medium format on the points that really matter here. On the V system those are the central shutters in the lenses (sluggishness on long times betrays overdue maintenance), the film transport and the light-tightness of magazines. On the X system we test the sensor, electronics and battery health, and on XCD lenses the built-in central shutter — with Hasselblad it sits in the lens, not in the body, so it deserves its own inspection per lens. Every finding is in the product description, with photos of the actual copy and a 12-month warranty — on the analogue classics too.
Feel it yourself or sell
Medium format is bought with your hands: feel free to come to Geldermalsen to hold an X2D or a 500 series yourself. Selling your own gear is possible through an online offer — loose V-system parts are welcome too.
