Product conditions You know exactly what you're buying.

From New to Heavily used: what each condition means and what we always state.

Every camera we sell has been inspected by our specialists and assigned a condition grade. This page explains what those grades mean, so you know exactly what you are buying.

We assess three things: the exterior, the optics and the functioning. The condition you see on a product page describes the exterior and the optics. The functioning must be in order at every grade - we do not sell equipment that does not work properly, unless that is explicitly stated on the product page.

The conditions

New

Unused and unopened, or at most taken out of the box. No trace of use whatsoever.

Like new

Virtually no signs of use - feels like new in the hand.

  • Exterior: virtually no signs of use; the rubber grips are in top condition.
  • Optics: no more than one or two internal dust particles; the glass is perfect.
  • Functioning: every function works exactly as it should.

Excellent

Minimal signs of use, barely visible.

  • Exterior: minimal signs of use; very small scratches or marks may be present.
  • Optics: very minor marks on the lens or a few dust particles possible - no effect on your images.
  • Functioning: every function works exactly as it should.

Good

Normal signs of use, visibly used.

  • Exterior: several small scratches and traces of regular use.
  • Optics: several dust particles in the lens possible, and minor marks on the glass - no effect on your images.
  • Functioning: every function works exactly as it should.

Well used

Clear signs of use, fully functional.

  • Exterior: clear signs of use, such as scratches and wear on the screen.
  • Optics: scratches or dust possible - no or minimal effect on your images.
  • Functioning: moving parts such as buttons, zoom and focus may run slightly stiffer. Every function works as it should, unless stated otherwise.

Heavily used

Intensively used with considerable wear.

  • Exterior: intensively used with considerable wear or damage.
  • Optics: dust or scratches on the lens possible - may have a slight effect on your images.
  • Functioning: fully functional and tested, unless stated otherwise.

This grade is for those who care mostly about price and are not bothered by appearances. Technically, these cameras do what they are supposed to do.

What we guarantee per condition

Second-hand equipment comes with small imperfections. To avoid surprises, we have defined what you may expect at each grade.

Buttons and dials

A control dial that no longer clicks perfectly into every position after years of use is normal wear. We apply these minimum thresholds for correct functioning:

Dead and hot pixels on the sensor

Almost every sensor develops the odd stray pixel over time. It has hardly any effect on your photos and is usually mapped out automatically by the camera.

Batteries

A second-hand battery reaches at least 30% of its original capacity. Below that, it is covered by the warranty.

In practice our batteries are well above this, but it is the lower limit you can hold us to.

What we do not consider a defect

A second-hand camera has been used, and you may see - and sometimes feel - that. The following comes with the territory and is not covered by the warranty:

  • slight play in moving parts;
  • cosmetic signs of use;
  • wear or lifting of rubber grips;
  • light scratches on the screen that do not affect the display;
  • a deviation in shutter speeds of up to about one stop, where no full service has been carried out;
  • dust in the viewfinder or between lens elements, as long as it does not noticeably affect image quality.

Does something clearly fall short of what the stated condition promises, and does it demonstrably affect the functioning? Then it is covered by the warranty - get in touch.

What we always mention

If a camera has a defect or a quirk that does not follow naturally from its condition grade, we put it in the description. Think of a dent, a blemish in the glass, or a button that runs heavier than normal.

We photograph every item individually. What you see in the photos is the camera you receive - never a stock photo of another copy.

In doubt?

Give us a call: 085 301 83 32. We will pick up the camera and tell you exactly what we see. That is quicker than reading a description, and you know immediately where you stand.
