Question 1

Which Canon camera is the BG-E11 compatible with?

Accepted Answer

The BG-E11 is the dedicated battery grip for the Canon EOS 5D Mark III. It slots directly into the camera's grip interface without adapters.

Question 2

Can the BG-E11 use AA batteries?

Accepted Answer

Yes — the BG-E11 is AA battery compatible, which is a real lifesaver on long shoots or travel where you can't always charge LP-E6 batteries. You just need the AA battery magazine that slots into the grip.

Question 3

How heavy is the Canon BG-E11?

Accepted Answer

The grip itself weighs 312 grams, so factor that into your kit weight before a long day of shooting handheld.

Question 4

Is buying a used Canon BG-E11 worth it?

Accepted Answer

Battery grips are one of the safer second-hand accessories to buy — they have no shutter mechanism or sensor to wear out. A pre-owned BG-E11 from Camera-tweedehands.nl comes professionally inspected and includes a minimum 12 months warranty, so you're well covered.

Question 5

What does a battery grip actually do?

Accepted Answer

A battery grip like the BG-E11 adds a second battery slot to roughly double your shooting time, and gives you a vertical shutter button and control layout for portrait-orientation shooting — useful for studio or event work.

Question 6

Does the BG-E11 work with LP-E6 batteries?

Accepted Answer

The BG-E11 accepts LP-E6 series batteries (the standard battery for Canon 5-series bodies) in addition to AA batteries via a separate magazine — giving you flexibility depending on what you have available.
