Leica 50mm f/1.4 Summilux-M Silver Chrome (11714)

The Leica Summilux-M 50mm f/1.4 (11714) is the silver chrome version of the Summilux that Leica brought back in its Classic Line in 2025. It is not an ASPH lens: the optical design is based on the second-generation Summilux, which Leica made with little change from the early 1960s until 2004, now built with current glass and coatings. The barrel is solid brass with a chrome finish, and the bayonet has 6-bit coding for digital M bodies.

Who is this lens for?

Looking for the classic Summilux look on a current Leica M camera? This is it. Wide open it has the softer, glowing rendering the Summilux is known for, with round out-of-focus highlights from the 12 blades. Stop down to f/2.8 or f/4 and it is sharp across the frame. It stays compact on the camera, and the silver chrome brass suits a silver M body. If you want maximum sharpness at f/1.4, the Summilux-M 50mm f/1.4 ASPH is the more clinical choice.

Buying used

Apart from the 6-bit code there is no electronics in this lens, so condition comes down to clean glass, a smooth focus ring and an aperture ring that clicks cleanly. Every copy at Camera-tweedehands.nl is individually inspected and photographed, and comes with at least 12 months warranty.
