Is the Nikon 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5G ED good for astrophotography?

Yes, the 18mm end is wide enough to capture large sections of the night sky in a single frame, which is one of the main reasons astro photographers go for this lens. The f/3.5 maximum aperture at 18mm is reasonably fast for starscape work, though stopping down to f/4 or f/4.5 typically improves edge star rendering noticeably.

Is it worth buying a used Nikon 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5G ED?

Who is the Nikon AF-S 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5G for?

This lens is built for DSLR shooters who want a lightweight, versatile ultra-wide zoom without carrying something massive. At 18mm on a full-frame body, you get serious wide-angle reach for landscape photography — sweeping skies, foreground interest, the whole deal. At night, the 18mm end gives you wide enough coverage to capture large sections of the Milky Way or starscapes in a single frame, making it a popular pick for astro work. The 35mm end brings you back to a more natural perspective for travel shots, street snaps, or environmental portraits. Because it covers the full FX frame, it pairs perfectly with bodies like the Nikon D750, D800, D810, or D850. On a DX body, the 18mm end gives you roughly a 27mm equivalent — still usefully wide. If you already own a Nikon F-mount system and want a compact wide zoom that won't weigh down your bag, this lens makes a lot of sense — especially used.
