Question 1

What does the Portkeys PT5 II connect to?

Accepted Answer

The Portkeys PT5 II uses an HDMI connection — the product name specifies 4K HDMI — so it works with virtually any mirrorless, DSLR, or cinema camera that has an HDMI output. No proprietary adapters needed, which makes it a genuinely versatile portable monitor for mixed-kit shooters.

Question 2

Is a 5-inch monitor big enough for on-camera use?

Accepted Answer

For most single-operator shoots, 5 inches is the sweet spot — large enough to check focus and exposure at a glance, but compact enough to keep your rig balanced on a gimbal or shoulder mount without adding awkward weight to one side.

Question 3

What can you do with the touchscreen on the PT5 II?

Accepted Answer

The PT5 II has a touchscreen interface that lets you navigate menus and adjust settings directly on screen — faster than hunting through physical buttons when you're mid-shot. The touchscreen is fully responsive and functional on our inspected unit.

Question 4

How does the Portkeys PT5 II compare to other 5-inch field monitors?

Accepted Answer

The PT5 II sits in the same category as the SmallHD FOCUS 5 and Atomos Shinobi 5. Portkeys monitors are generally known for packing touchscreen control into a competitive form factor, which makes the used price point on the PT5 II particularly attractive.

Question 5

Is buying a used Portkeys PT5 II worth it?

Accepted Answer

Field monitors typically lead a less demanding life than camera bodies — they don't have mechanical shutters or moving parts that wear out. A second-hand PT5 II in good condition performs identically to a new one, and every pre-owned unit on Camera-tweedehands.nl comes with a minimum 12 months warranty for peace of mind.

Question 6

Does the Portkeys PT5 II work with any camera brand?

Accepted Answer

Yes — because it uses a standard HDMI input, the PT5 II is brand-agnostic. It works equally well with Sony, Canon, Nikon, Fuji (Fujifilm), Blackmagic, and other cameras that output via HDMI.
