Question 1

Is the SmallRig 5623 compatible with the Canon EOS R5 Mark II?

Accepted Answer

Yes — the SmallRig 5623 is designed specifically for the Canon EOS R5 Mark II. It's a body-specific fit, which means the cutouts are shaped to that camera's exact dimensions rather than a generic outline. A precise fit also reduces wobble and vibration when mounting accessories, which matters when you're running an external monitor or follow focus.

Question 2

Does the SmallRig 5623 block any ports or buttons on the R5 Mark II?

Accepted Answer

Body-specific cages like the SmallRig 5623 are engineered so that major ports and controls remain accessible — that's the core advantage over universal cages. It's always worth checking that any cables you plan to use (such as full-size HDMI or USB-C) fit comfortably, especially if you need right-angle adapters.

Question 3

What accessories can I mount on the SmallRig 5623?

Accepted Answer

The cage provides threaded mounting points on multiple sides for attaching cold shoe mounts, top handles, and rod-based accessories. SmallRig designs its cage ecosystem so that handles, monitor mounts, and other rigs attach cleanly — and standard industry-thread accessories from other brands fit just as well.

Question 4

Is buying a used SmallRig cage worth it?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Camera cages have no moving electronic parts, so a used cage that's free of cracks or stripped threads works exactly like a new one. Buying second-hand saves money that's better spent on glass or lighting, and every item on Camera-tweedehands.nl comes with a minimum 12 months warranty.

Question 5

Can I use the SmallRig 5623 on a tripod or baseplate?

Accepted Answer

Camera cages typically include a threaded hole on the base for tripod or quick-release plate mounting — check the listing photos and description for the SmallRig 5623 specifically, as the exact thread sizes are confirmed per unit. If you're using a rod-based baseplate, verify that the cage's bottom profile suits your baseplate's clamp width.

Question 6

Does the SmallRig 5623 work with SmallRig's own handles and top plates?

Accepted Answer

SmallRig designs its accessories to work within its own ecosystem, so the 5623 cage is built to pair with SmallRig handles and top plates. It also works with third-party accessories that use industry-standard mounting threads — making it a flexible foundation if you're mixing gear from different brands.

Question 7

What's typically included when buying a used SmallRig 5623?

Accepted Answer

Used accessories are sold as-is in terms of included extras — small items like hex keys or mounting screws that came in the original box may or may not be present. Check the individual listing description and photos carefully, and if anything's missing, SmallRig screws and tools are widely available and inexpensive to replace.
