Who is the Zeiss Loxia 50mm f/2 for?

This lens is built for photographers who shoot deliberately and want full control over every exposure. Street shooters love the compact size and silent manual operation — there's no autofocus motor whirring when you're trying to be discreet. Portrait photographers appreciate the smooth focus ring and the natural, slightly creamy rendering that the Planar design produces wide open at f/2. Travel and wedding photographers who want a lightweight fast prime on a Sony Alpha body — especially the Sony Alpha 7 series — find that the Loxia 50mm hits a sweet spot between size and image quality. It's equally at home on a Sony Alpha 7R body for landscapes and architecture, where manual focus is not a handicap at all. If you're already exploring the broader mirrorless prime ecosystem, the Loxia 50mm pairs naturally with other Loxia focal lengths like the Zeiss Loxia 35mm f/2 and the Zeiss Loxia 85mm f/2.4 to build a cohesive, all-manual kit.

Buying a used Zeiss Loxia 50mm f/2

Buying this lens second-hand makes a lot of sense — Loxia lenses are built to a high mechanical standard, with metal construction that ages well and few electronic components to fail beyond basic EXIF communication. A pre-owned copy in good condition performs identically to a new one optically. Every used Zeiss Loxia 50mm f/2 on Camera-tweedehands.nl is individually inspected and photographed, so you know exactly what you're getting. All listings come with a minimum 12 months warranty, and you have 14 days to return if it's not right for you.
