Used filters
In this corner you'll find the filters that don't fit into a single box: circular polarising filters, ND filters for long shutter speeds, UV/IR-cut filters for modified cameras, skylight filters and even white balance tools such as the ExpoDisc.
In short, the gathering place for everything that lets you do something to your image before it even reaches the sensor.
Filters are precisely the kind of category where buying used is smart: it's glass and metal with no electronics to wear out, so a used one in good condition does its job just as well as new.
The range leans heavily on Hoya and B+W, along with LEE Filters, Kase, Urth and ExpoDisc.
Popular choices are the Hoya HD Nano CIR-PL and the Hoya PROND range (from PROND8 to PROND1000) for those who want to lengthen shutter speeds, and the B+W F-Pro UV/IR Cut MRC filters for clean colour rendition. Popular models at the moment are the Hoya 77mm ProND1000 Filter (longest exposures), the Hoya 72mm HD CIR-PL Filter (removing reflections) and the Hoya 82mm HD CIR-PL Filter (large lens diameters).
Above all, pay attention to the filter size in millimetres — it has to match the thread of your lens.

A filter is mechanically simple, so most used ones last without any trouble.
Still, there are a few things to look out for so you don't end up with a surprise.
What to look out for with used filters
The most important thing is the filter size: look on the front of your lens or in the manual to see which diameter (67mm or 77mm, for example) you need. Next, check the coating for scratches and the thread for dents — a bent rim turns onto your lens with difficulty.
With polarising filters you want the rotating ring to move smoothly; with ND filters you want no colour cast that you'd have to correct afterwards.
All our filters are professionally inspected, so you know in advance what condition the glass is in.
Which filter is for whom?
A circular polarising filter (CIR-PL) is the all-rounder for landscapes and travel: it removes reflections and makes skies deeper.
ND filters such as the Hoya PROND series are for those who want to play with long shutter speeds — think of soft waterfalls or moving clouds in daylight. Popular models at the moment are the Hoya 77mm ProND1000 Filter (extremely long shutter speeds), the Hoya 77mm ProND64 Filter (moderate light reduction) and the Lee Foundation Kit (modular filter system).
UV/IR-cut filters are a niche choice for modified or astro cameras, and an ExpoDisc helps you set a correct white balance.
So first look at what your photography needs before you search by size.
Everything in this category comes with at least 12 months' warranty and a 14-day return period, so you can take your time to try out whether the fit and quality are right.
