Used card readers
Here you'll find used card readers that move your photos and videos quickly from your memory card to your computer or workstation β from single SD readers to fast CFexpress and XQD models and multi-card docks. A good reader may not be the most exciting piece of gear, but when you've just spent a day shooting large RAW files or 4K clips, you don't want to sit waiting endlessly for the transfer. The right model depends mainly on which card type you use and which connection (USB-C, Thunderbolt) your computer has.
In the range you'll see sought-after choices such as the Angelbird CFexpress Card Reader Type A and Type B, the SanDisk Extreme PRO CFExpress Card Reader, the Sony MRW-S1 for fast UHS-II SD cards and the ProGrade CFexpress & XQD reader. Do you work with several card formats? Then multi-card readers such as the SanDisk Professional Pro-Reader or the Lexar Professional 3-in-1 come in handy. Feel free to combine your new reader with a used memory card from the memory cards category, or dive into the wider accessories section.

With a card reader, everything revolves around the match with your card and your computer. If you have a CFexpress Type A card (as in many recent Sony bodies), you need a Type A reader β a Type B model won't take it, and the same goes the other way round. For fast SD cards you'll get the most out of a UHS-II reader; an older reader throttles the speed. Check the connection too: a USB-C or Thunderbolt port on your laptop makes the difference between waiting seconds and waiting minutes.
What should you look out for when buying used?
Card readers have few moving parts, so they generally last a long time. Above all, pay attention to the condition of the connectors and whether the supplied cable is included β some models work with a fixed USB-C cable, others with a detachable one. Every reader we sell has been professionally inspected and tested, so you can be sure it does what it's supposed to do.
Who is it for?
A fast standalone reader is ideal for photographers and video makers who move a lot of large files and don't want to depend on the slow card slot in their laptop. If you shoot with one card type, you choose a dedicated reader; if you work with different cameras and formats, a multi-card model is more practical. All used card readers come with at least 12 months' warranty and a 14-day right of return, so you can take your time to try out whether the model suits your workflow.
