Question 1

What sensor size does the Canon C400 use?

Accepted Answer

The Canon C400 uses a Super 35 sensor — the same format as 35mm motion picture film, which gives it a cinematic depth-of-field characteristic and a wide range of compatible cinema lenses.

Question 2

What memory cards does the Canon C400 take?

Accepted Answer

The C400 records to CFexpress Type B cards. These offer high sustained write speeds suited to demanding video formats, and they're widely stocked by major card manufacturers — easy to source on the road or abroad.

Question 3

What battery does the Canon C400 use?

Accepted Answer

It uses the BP-A60 battery, which is part of Canon's Cinema EOS battery family. If you already own other Cinema EOS bodies that take the BP-A series, you may be able to share batteries across your kit.

Question 4

How does the Super 35 format compare to full-frame for cinema?

Accepted Answer

Super 35 has been the standard format for motion picture cameras for decades. Compared to full-frame, it gives a slightly tighter field of view with the same lens, which many cinematographers use to control background separation. It also has a huge ecosystem of dedicated cinema glass built around it.

Question 5

Is the Canon C400 a good fit for documentary work?

Accepted Answer

Yes — the Super 35 form factor keeps the body manageable on a shoulder rig or gimbal, and the BP-A60 battery is designed for extended production use, which matters when you're running a long shoot and can't always stop to recharge.

Question 6

Is buying a used Canon C400 worth it?

Accepted Answer

Cinema cameras from Canon are built to professional production standards, engineered to handle heavy use across long shoots. A second-hand C400 that's been professionally inspected gives you access to a Super 35 cinema body at a significantly lower entry point than new. Every used item comes with a minimum 12 months warranty, so you're not taking a blind risk.

Question 7

What lenses work with the Canon C400?

Accepted Answer

The native mount of the C400 is not listed in the available specs — check the full variant listing or product description for confirmed mount information before purchasing glass or adapters. The Super 35 sensor size is broadly compatible with cinema lenses designed for that format, but mount compatibility depends on the specific mount variant you're buying.

Question 8

What recording formats and resolution does the Canon C400 support?

Accepted Answer

Recording formats, codecs and resolution are not included in the available spec data for this listing. These are important buying factors for a cinema camera, so check the full variant listing or contact the seller directly to confirm before purchasing.
