About the Leica 50mm f/1.4 Summilux-M ASPH Black Chrome (11688)

The Leica 50mm f/1.4 Summilux-M ASPH Black Chrome (11688) is the brass edition of Leica's well-known fast 50mm. Same optics as the regular black Summilux-M ASPH, in a solid brass barrel with a black chrome finish, a scalloped focus ring and a red feet scale, a nod to the Summilux of 1959. It comes with a round metal lens hood and a metal front cap.

Who is this lens for?

For M shooters who want the Summilux rendering and care about how a lens looks and feels. Wide open at f/1.4 you get a sharp centre and soft, calm backgrounds, which works for street, portraits and low light. The floating element keeps the image sharp at close range too. The brass barrel feels heavier and more solid than the aluminium version and ages beautifully, especially on a black M body.
