Used Hasselblad H lenses

Here you'll find used lenses with the Hasselblad H mount: the HC and HCD lenses designed for the medium format H cameras. This is the glass with which studio, portrait and landscape photographers have fed their large sensors for years, and on the used market it remains hugely sought after. Whether you're looking for a fixed focal length for portraits or a versatile zoom for location work, this section is all about Hasselblad glass that is built to last.

The range is broad, because the H system has a rich line-up of primes, zooms and macros. Popular models at the moment are the HC 50mm f/3.5 II as a light wide-angle, the HC 50-110mm f/3.5-4.5 for those who prefer to work with a single zoom and still want to be able to switch from wide-angle to short telephoto, the HC 80mm f/2.8 as a sharp portrait and all-round choice, and the HC 300mm f/4.5 for nature and sports photography at a distance. You'll also come across 'Orange Dot' versions: these are examples with updated firmware that work more smoothly with the latest H bodies.

Buying used Hasselblad H lenses

A Hasselblad H lens is a serious investment, even used, and that is exactly why it pays to look closely at what you're buying. The optical quality of these lenses hardly changes over the years, but the electronics and the shutter in the lens (on most H lenses the aperture and the leaf shutter are in the lens) do determine how reliable you'll find it in practice.

What to look out for with used H glass

Check whether the autofocus runs smoothly and quietly and whether the aperture opens and closes cleanly. Look out for dust or fungus inside, small scratches on the coating and the condition of the filter thread and the mount. Ideally, ask whether the lens has had recent firmware updates; the 'Orange Dot' versions are tuned to the more modern H cameras. With us, every lens is professionally inspected and tested before it goes on sale, so you know that the optics and the mechanics do what they are supposed to do.

Who is this for?

These lenses are for photographers who work with the Hasselblad H system and want to step up to medium format quality without paying the new price. Studio, fashion, product and landscape photographers get the most out of them with, for example, the HC 50mm f/3.5 II, the HC 80mm f/2.8 or the HC 50-110mm f/3.5-4.5. If you have an X system camera or 907X, you can use H glass via the XH adapter. If you'd like to explore more widely, also take a look at the other medium format lenses, the Hasselblad V lenses and the XCD lenses for the X system.

On everything you buy here you get a minimum 12-month warranty and 14-day returns, so you can try out a used lens at home at your leisure before you make your final decision.
