Premium Used Gitzo Gear

Gitzo builds the tripods all others are measured against — carbon, French craftsmanship and a lifespan measured in decades. In our range: around 240 Gitzo products, from Traveler travel tripods to heavy Systematic platforms and heads.

The lines at a glance

The Systematic series is the modular workhorse for heavy telephotos and landscape work, the Mountaineer the classic all-rounder and the Traveler folds small enough for hand luggage. Almost every part is available separately and replaceable — one of the reasons Gitzos live so long.

Exactly why: used

A tripod that lasts thirty years is smartest bought once someone else has paid the depreciation. We test every twist lock, the extension under load and the heads for damping and locking. The condition is stated honestly with each copy; trading in your old tripod is possible straight away.

Buying a used Gitzo tripod: an investment for years

Gitzo was founded in Paris in 1917 and has been part of the Manfrotto group since the 1990s, but the tripods are still built in Italy. The brand introduced carbon in tripod legs and is known for the G-Lock twist locks and the modular Systematic series, where you swap the top plate for a ball head, a fluid head or a gimbal. The Traveler line folds compact, the Mountaineer is the all-rounder.

Because Gitzo tripods last so long, older models come in regularly. We check that the legs slide smoothly and lock firmly, that the locks are not worn, that the centre column is straight and that the top plate sits tight. On heads we test clamping force and smoothness of movement. Replacement parts such as rubbers and locks are still available.

Choose the series by your heaviest combination: series 2 for mirrorless cameras, series 3 or 4 for long telephotos and heavy video. On every product page we state the series, the number of sections and the maximum height.
