Buying used Irix: photo and cine lenses

Irix is the lens brand of Swiss TH Swiss and has existed since 2016. It started with manual-focus wide-angles for landscape and astro photographers, with clever details such as a click stop at infinity and a lockable focus ring. Then came the 150mm f/2.8 macro with 1:1 magnification and the cine versions of the same optics: the 15mm, 21mm, 30mm, 45mm, 150mm and more with T-stops, gears and a uniform 95mm front diameter. The Firefly versions are lighter, the Blackstone versions have an aluminium barrel.

Irix lenses are purely mechanical or have only aperture control, so they hardly age. We check the focus ring for even resistance, the aperture, the gears on cine versions, the rear flange and the glass for scratches and dust. The condition is described per item.

On cine primes, mind the mount: it is fixed, but Irix offers the same optic in several mounts. Combine a set of three or four Irix cines for a consistent look; we are happy to advise and buy your old glass.
