Premium Used Mamiya Gear

For many film photographers Mamiya is the analogue medium-format brand: more affordable than Hasselblad, with legendarily sharp glass. Our range holds over a hundred Mamiya products — bodies, lenses, film backs and viewfinders — largely from the 645, RB/RZ and TLR systems.

Why a used Mamiya?

New no longer exists — a Mamiya is by definition bought used, and that is more an advantage than a limitation: the supply is large, the glass is optically still of professional level and the prices are far below what comparable medium format costs. For anyone growing from 35mm to 120 film this is the most accessible serious step. Studios wrote this gear off decades ago; film photographers now reap the benefits, because RB sets are plentiful, complete with back and finder — proof that good tools last for generations.

Which system suits you?

  • RB67 & RZ67 — the studio classics: large, modular and indestructible, with a rotating back.
  • 645 system — the versatile, portable entry into medium format.
  • Mamiya 7 — the rangefinder with perhaps the sharpest glass ever on 6×7; a collector's item that rarely sits around for long.
  • C330 (TLR) — the twin-lens reflex with interchangeable lenses and its own loyal following.
  • Sekor glass — the lenses that made the brand great, available separately for each of the systems.

What we look for in used Mamiya

Analogue gear calls for its own inspection, and with Mamiya we know the weak spots per system: the light-tightness of the bellows on RB and RZ (the classic wear point), the shutter speeds in the lens shutters, the film transport and the locks of backs and finders. Light meters in prism finders and the coupling between body and back are checked separately, and the glass goes under bright light for fungus and haze. What we find is stated honestly with the product — and on these classics too you get a warranty from us.

Complete it or sell it

Loose backs, finders and lenses regularly turn up in the range. Still have a Mamiya set lying around yourself? Request an offer online; we love giving these cameras a second life. And if you are not sure which system suits you — in the showroom we lift the differences out of the cabinet for you in no time.

Buying used Mamiya: 645, RZ67 or 7?

Mamiya was founded in Tokyo in 1940 and dominated studios for decades. The 645 system, from the mechanical 645 1000s to the 645 AFD and the Phase One variants, uses the Mamiya 645 mount that is still built today: Mamiya and Phase One lenses fit each other's cameras, and with a digital back you shoot with them today. The RB67 and RZ67 are heavy 6x7 studio cameras with rotating film backs, the Mamiya 6 and 7 compact rangefinders with exceptionally sharp lenses.

Medium-format gear from this era calls for a thorough check. We test shutters at every speed, backs for light leaks and transport, RB and RZ bellows for cracks, rangefinders for alignment, and lenses for haze, fungus and smoothly running blades. Autofocus lenses from the 645 AF system are tested on a camera. The condition notes list everything, with photos.

Want to shoot film? Look at a 645 Pro or RZ67 with an 80mm or 110mm; want digital? A Mamiya 645 AFD with a Phase One back is still a strong combination. We help you choose and buy your current kit.
