Premium Used Metabones Gear

Metabones from Hong Kong became known when Sony opened a full system to other makers' lenses with the A7. The EF-E Smart Adapter (now Mark V) passes autofocus, aperture control, image stabilisation and EXIF data and is kept up to date via firmware. The Speed Booster, developed with optical designer Brian Caldwell, is an adapter with a lens inside that shrinks the image: on an APS-C or MFT camera you get almost the full-frame field of view and one extra stop of light. There are versions for Canon EF, Nikon F, Leica R and more to Sony E, Fujifilm X, Micro Four Thirds and BMPCC.

On used adapters we check the contacts, the bayonets for play, the firmware version and, on Speed Boosters, the glass for scratches and dust. We test the adapter on a camera with a matching lens so autofocus and aperture actually work.

Note: the EF-E adapter gives the best autofocus on newer Sony cameras; older bodies are slower. The product page states the mounts and the version; ask us if you are unsure whether your lens is supported.
