Pentax holds a unique position: the last brand fully committed to the DSLR, with an enormous analogue heritage. With us you will find over 200 Pentax products — digital K bodies, analogue classics and more than 125 lenses.
Almost every Pentax lens since 1975 fits every K body, analogue and digital — no other brand stayed loyal to its mount for so long. And because Pentax never joined the mirrorless race, the prices of digital K bodies stayed remarkably friendly — full-frame for the money of someone else's entry-level model. That makes used Pentax one of the smartest bargains in photography: a thirty-year-old prime simply keeps up on a modern K-3. Because Pentax builds the stabilisation into the body, even the oldest K glass works stabilised there — a gift you miss with other classic glass. Gear that stays relevant for half a century is sustainability in practice.
Digital or analogue?
Digital K series — the K-3 line and the full-frame K-1 are the eye-catchers: weather-sealed, with stabilisation in the body.
Analogue classics — the Spotmatic, K1000 and ME Super are beloved entry points into film photography.
Lenses — from affordable M and A series to the Limited primes sought after by connoisseurs.
Medium format — with the 645 and 67 systems Pentax has analogue medium format in house too; both turn up regularly in our range.
What we look for in used Pentax
Whether it is a modern K-3 or a fifty-year-old Spotmatic: we inspect what matters for that type. On the analogue bodies those are the shutter speeds (especially the slow ones), light meter and film transport; on older glass the fungus and haze that decades-old lenses are prone to; on digital bodies the sensor, shutter and the built-in stabilisation. You read the condition back honestly with the product, with photos of the actual copy and our standard 12-month warranty.

Buying used Pentax: K mount for photo and film
Pentax has existed as a camera brand since 1957 and has belonged to Ricoh since 2011. The K mount from 1975 is still in use, so decades of lenses, from the mechanical K and M series to the modern DA* and D FA lines, fit the current cameras. The K-1 Mark II is a full-frame DSLR with in-body stabilisation and Pixel Shift, the K-3 Mark III the APS-C flagship with an optical viewfinder of exceptional quality, and the K-70 and KF the affordable, weather-sealed entry. The Limited lenses (31mm, 43mm, 77mm and the compact DA 15, 21, 40 and 70mm) are hand-finished metal primes with a character of their own. In 2024 Pentax surprised with the 17, a new half-frame film camera.
On used Pentax cameras we check the shutter count, the sensor, the stabilisation and the weather seals; on lenses autofocus (screw or SDM drive), aperture and glass. Older manual K lenses are tested for blades and focus mechanics. The condition is described per item.
A K-3 Mark III with a DA* 16-50mm or a K-1 Mark II with the D FA 24-70mm is a complete kit; for something small, choose a K-70 with a DA 35mm Limited. We buy your current Pentax kit.
