Premium Used Sigma Gear

With over a thousand products Sigma is the largest lens brand in our catalogue โ€” and not without reason: the Art, Contemporary and Sports lines deliver top quality for considerably less than the brand lenses. We carry Sigma for almost every mount: Canon EF and RF, Sony E/FE, Nikon F and Z, Fujifilm X and L-mount. Popular models right now are the Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 DC HSM Art as a fast standard zoom, the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art as a sharp portrait lens and the Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG OS HSM Contemporary for telephoto work at a distance.

Why a used Sigma?

Sigma was already the smart alternative to brand glass; used, the difference becomes frankly large. An Art prime that costs half a brand lens new costs considerably less again used โ€” while optical design does not wear. Anyone wanting to fill their bag with fast glass without emptying their bank account starts here. Sigma also builds all its glass in a single factory of its own in Aizu, Japan โ€” a reputation for quality that keeps used prices stable, but leaves the gap with new wide enough. And every lens that changes bags instead of going from factory to shop simply saves a newly made lens.

Art, Contemporary or Sports?

  • Art โ€” maximum image quality and speed: the 14mm f/1.4, 105mm f/1.4 and the new 135mm f/1.4 top the list.
  • Contemporary โ€” compact and affordable, such as the 10-18mm f/2.8 for APS-C and the popular f/1.4 primes for mirrorless cameras.
  • Sports โ€” robust telephoto work; the 150-600mm is the wildlife photography lens in our range.

What we look for in used Sigma

We test every Sigma on exactly the same points as brand glass: autofocus, OS stabilisation, aperture and the condition of the glass under bright light. Extra with Sigma: older EF and F-mount copies are tested on a current body, because autofocus compatibility differs per generation โ€” if it works better after a firmware update through the USB dock, we mention that. Zooms are checked through the whole range for sharpness and smoothness of the ring. So you know beforehand what you get, with copy photos and a 12-month warranty.

Mind the mount

Searching by camera instead of by brand? Under Lenses for Canon, Sony, Nikon or Fujifilm you will find all the glass that fits your body โ€” Sigma included. When in doubt, always check the mount in the product name, or ask us; trading in your current glass is possible with an online offer.

Buying used Sigma: Art, Contemporary or Sports?

Sigma from Aizu, Japan, has existed since 1961 and is still a family business that builds all its lenses in one factory. In 2012 the brand split its range into three lines: Art for maximum optical quality (the 24-70mm f/2.8 DG DN II, the 35mm, 50mm and 85mm f/1.4 DG DN, the 14mm f/1.4), Contemporary for compact, affordable lenses (the 18-50mm f/2.8 and 10-18mm f/2.8 for APS-C, the 100-400mm and the I series metal primes) and Sports for weather-sealed telephotos (60-600mm, 150-600mm, 500mm f/5.6). The DG DN and DC DN lenses are designed specifically for mirrorless cameras; older DG HSM versions also work fine through adapters.

On used Sigma we test the autofocus on a camera of the right mount, the optical stabilisation where present, the aperture, the zoom ring for play and the glass for scratches, dust and fungus. Sigma lenses can be updated and calibrated via the USB Dock; we install the latest firmware where possible. Every item has photos and an honest condition description.

Choose Art for portrait and speed, Contemporary for travel and compactness, Sports for nature and sport. Mind the mount: Sigma builds most lenses for Sony E, L-Mount, Fujifilm X, Canon RF and Nikon Z. Your old Sigma glass can be traded in with us.
