Premium Used Sony Gear

Sony has been making the most popular mirrorless cameras for years, and you see that with us: around 600 Sony products in stock, from the A7 series and professional A9 and A1 bodies to G Master glass, cinema cameras and the compact RX line.

Why a used Sony?

Sony releases new generations at a rapid pace, and every launch pushes the previous generation down in price — while it can technically go on for years. That way you buy the autofocus and image quality that was top-of-the-line two years ago for the money of an entry-level model now. The open E mount also produced the largest lens supply in the world, so used Sony kits exist for every budget. The same camera, a second life: cheaper and the sustainable choice.

Which Sony suits you?

  • A7 series (full-frame) — the A7 IV remains the best-selling all-rounder, the A7R V is there for resolution and the A7CR the compact surprise.
  • A9 & A1 (pro) — built for speed without blackout; sports shooters look at the A9 III and A1 II.
  • APS-C & vlog — the A6000 series offers fast autofocus in a light body, the ZV line is tailored to video makers.
  • Compact & cinema — the RX100 line remains the king of the coat pocket, and with the FX cinema bodies you grow into production work.
  • Lenses — among the glass the GM primes — 135mm f/1.8 GM, 14mm f/1.8 GM — and the 100mm macro are the stars. Everything shares the same E mount, so your glass simply grows with you.

What we look for in used Sony

Sony bodies are full of sensitive electronics, so we test with focus. On every body we read out the shutter count where possible. Useful to know on older A7s: from the third generation the line got the larger battery and the redesigned menu — such generation differences we set out clearly with the product. The sensor gets extra attention: by design it attracts dust faster on Sony, so we check for dust and scratches and deliver it clean. We check that the IBIS stabilisation moves freely, test Eye-AF and focus motors, and go over the vulnerable ports (micro-HDMI, USB-C) and sealing rubbers. The viewfinder, the hinge of the flip screen and the battery are part of the inspection too — exactly the parts that wear first with intensive vlogging. The outcome is stated honestly with the product, with our own photos of the real copy and a 12-month warranty as standard.

Buying used Sony: which Alpha and which lens?

Sony took over Minolta's camera division in 2006 and put the mirrorless full-frame camera on the map with the A7 in 2013. Since then the E mount has become the broadest system on the market: the A7 series as the all-rounder (A7 III, A7 IV), the A7R for high resolution (A7R IV, A7R V), the A7S and FX3 for low-light video, the A9 and A1 for sports and press, and the APS-C line with A6400, A6600 and A6700. The lenses run from the G Master primes and zooms (24-70mm f/2.8 GM II, 70-200mm f/2.8 GM II, 85mm f/1.4 GM) to affordable G and standard lenses, complemented by Sigma, Tamron and Samyang, who all build natively for E.

On used Sony cameras we read the shutter count, check the sensor for dust and spots (without a mirror, Sony sensors are extra exposed), test the stabilisation, every connector and the screen; on lenses the autofocus, OSS stabilisation, aperture and glass. Every item has photos and an honest condition description.

Choose your camera by what you shoot: A7 IV for almost everything, A7R V for landscape and studio, A7S III or FX3 for video, A6700 as the compact entry. Lenses are listed per mount in our range, and your current Sony kit can be traded in with us.
