Buying used Syrp: Genie and Magic Carpet

Syrp from Auckland, New Zealand, started in 2012 with the original Genie, a motion-control box that pulls itself along a slider on a cord or pans on a tripod. The Genie II generation splits that into the Linear (for sliders) and the Pan Tilt (two axes), which you pair via Bluetooth in the Syrp app into a three-dimensional move with keyframes, ease-in and ease-out and intervals for time-lapse. The Magic Carpet and Magic Carpet Pro sliders are the matching rails, and the Genie Mini II is the little brother for phone and light cameras. Syrp now belongs to Manfrotto.

On used Syrp we test the motors for noise and even running, the batteries for capacity, the Bluetooth pairing with the app, the mounts and, on sliders, the rail and the carriage bearing. Included cables, cords and adapters are checked for completeness. It is all in the condition notes.

A Genie II Pan Tilt alone is enough for rotating time-lapses; add a Linear and Magic Carpet for slider moves. Mind the payload and compatibility between generations (Genie I and II do not talk to each other). Questions? We are happy to help.
