Nikon ME-1 Stereo Microphone

The Nikon ME-1 is an external stereo microphone designed to improve audio quality on compatible Nikon cameras, giving you a clear step up from the built-in mono mic found on most DSLRs.

What the ME-1 does

The ME-1 plugs into your camera's 3.5mm stereo mini-jack input and mounts directly on the hot shoe, keeping your setup clean and cable-free. It captures stereo sound, which makes a real difference for video work — interviews, travel vlogs, or event coverage all benefit from the added spatial feel of a proper stereo field.

Who is it for?

If you shoot video with a Nikon DSLR and want better audio without carrying a separate recorder, the ME-1 is a straightforward solution. It's compact, lightweight, and purpose-built to pair with Nikon bodies — no extra apps, no complicated setup. Buying a used ME-1 makes a lot of sense here: it's a passive accessory with no moving parts, so condition is easy to verify and it holds up well over time.
