Who Is This Lens For?

If you shoot street or landscape with a mirrorless body and want to actually forget the lens is in your bag, the Lumix S 18-40mm makes a strong case. At 155g it's light enough to leave on your camera all day without your neck paying for it.

The 18mm end gives you plenty of room for wide environmental shots and tight indoor spaces, while 40mm is a comfortable focal length for walking around a city and isolating a subject on the street. It's a natural match for compact L-Mount bodies like the Lumix S9, where keeping the whole kit small is the point.

Optical designers at Panasonic included three aspherical elements, two ED elements, and an ultra-high refractive index element to keep sharpness honest despite the compact barrel. Buying this second-hand means getting a genuinely travel-friendly zoom at a sensible used price, and every item comes with a minimum 12 months warranty. Used copies are available in multiple condition grades — from Excellent to Good — so you can pick the right balance of price and cosmetic condition.
