Question 1

Is the Profoto Li-Ion Battery Mark II compatible with both the B1 and B1X?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the Mark II battery is designed to work with both the Profoto B1 and the Profoto B1X off-camera flash heads. It's the same battery platform across both models, so one spare covers both if you happen to use both units.

Question 2

What's the difference between the Profoto Li-Ion Battery Mark II and the original Li-Ion battery?

Accepted Answer

Both the original and the Mark II fit the same Profoto B1 and B1X flash heads and share the same Li-Ion chemistry. The Mark II carries a revised production designation from Profoto; beyond that, Profoto has not publicly detailed specific performance differences between the two revisions. When buying second-hand, either version will work in your B1 or B1X — just confirm the listing shows the exact variant you want.

Question 3

How many flashes does the Profoto B1X get per charge?

Accepted Answer

Profoto rates the B1X flash head at up to 325 full-power flashes per charge when used with its Li-Ion battery. Keep in mind that figure is a spec of the B1X head itself, not the battery in isolation — real-world shot count varies depending on power level and how the head is used. That's exactly why many working photographers carry at least one spare battery for longer shoots.

Question 4

Is buying a used Profoto battery safe?

Accepted Answer

It can be a great value move, provided the battery has been tested and comes with a warranty. Every second-hand item on Camera-tweedehands.nl is individually inspected and includes a minimum 12 months warranty, so you're covered if something isn't right. The condition grade shown on the variant listing tells you exactly what state the battery is in before you commit.

Question 5

How do I charge the Profoto Li-Ion Battery Mark II?

Accepted Answer

The battery charges inside the Profoto B1 or B1X flash head via the head's power adapter. Profoto also sells a dedicated standalone battery charger separately, which lets you charge a spare simultaneously without taking your flash head out of action — a worthwhile addition for busy shoot days.

Question 6

Where can I find more Profoto accessories second-hand?

Accepted Answer

Camera-tweedehands.nl carries a range of used Profoto gear including batteries, chargers, and flash accessories. Browsing the Profoto brand page is the quickest way to see what's currently available.
