Question 1

Which RED cameras are compatible with the REDMAG 64GB 1.8" SSD?

Accepted Answer

The REDMAG 1.8" SSD is compatible with RED EPIC and SCARLET cameras. It requires a REDMAG module to connect — it does not work with the MiniMag module used on later RED bodies.

Question 2

What write speed does the REDMAG 1.8" SSD support?

Accepted Answer

REDMAG 1.8" SSDs support write speeds of up to 300 MB/s, which is fast enough to handle R3D RAW recording on compatible RED cameras.

Question 3

Is the REDMAG SSD the same as the RED MiniMag?

Accepted Answer

No. The REDMAG 1.8" SSD and the RED MiniMag are two separate, incompatible storage systems. REDMAG drives require a REDMAG module and are used in older RED EPIC and SCARLET cameras, while MiniMag is used in later RED bodies.

Question 4

Is buying a used REDMAG SSD a good idea?

Accepted Answer

Yes, provided the drive has been properly inspected. SSDs have no moving parts, so wear is typically lower than with mechanical storage. A pre-owned REDMAG SSD from Camera-tweedehands.nl — inspected and covered by a minimum 12 months warranty — is a reliable and cost-effective way to add recording capacity to your RED EPIC or SCARLET rig.

Question 5

What capacities is the REDMAG 1.8" SSD available in?

Accepted Answer

The REDMAG 1.8" SSD was produced in 48GB, 64GB, 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB versions. The 64GB and larger capacities share similar read/write performance.

Question 6

Does a second-hand REDMAG SSD come with a warranty?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every used REDMAG SSD sold through Camera-tweedehands.nl comes with a minimum 12 months warranty, so you're covered if any issue arises after purchase.
