Question 1

Is the Sigma 35mm 1.4 DG II Art compatible with my L-Mount camera?

Accepted Answer

The L-Mount version is designed for the L-Mount Alliance ecosystem, which includes cameras from Panasonic, Leica, and Sigma. Check your specific camera model against the L-Mount Alliance compatibility list or the Sigma product page to confirm full native support before buying.

Question 2

What is the difference between the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG Art and the DG II Art?

Accepted Answer

The original DG Art was designed for DSLRs and later made available in mirrorless mounts. The DG II Art is a new generation of the design built from the outset for mirrorless systems rather than being carried over from a DSLR optical formula. If you're shooting a native L-Mount body, the DG II is the purpose-built choice.

Question 3

How does the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 Art compare to a Leica or Lumix native 35mm option?

Accepted Answer

The Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG II Art has a maximum aperture of f/1.4, which is wider than many native L-Mount 35mm zoom options and competitive with other primes in the ecosystem, making it appealing for low-light and shallow depth-of-field work. The Art line's optical tuning targets high resolving power, which holds up well against more expensive alternatives in the ecosystem.

Question 4

Is buying a used Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG II Art worth it?

Accepted Answer

Sigma Art lenses are built to a high mechanical standard — metal mounts, solid barrels — which means they age well when properly handled. Buying second-hand gives you access to serious optical quality at a lower entry point. On Camera-tweedehands.nl, used items come with a minimum 12 months warranty and a clear condition description, so there's no guesswork involved.

Question 5

Does the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG II Art have image stabilization?

Accepted Answer

Sigma has not built optical image stabilization into the Art prime lineup as a rule, but confirm this for your specific copy on the variant page or Sigma's product sheet. If your camera body offers in-body image stabilization (IBIS), that can compensate effectively for handheld shooting in lower light.

Question 6

What filter size does the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG II Art use?

Accepted Answer

The exact filter thread diameter isn't confirmed in the specs available here — check the variant page or the official Sigma product sheet for your specific copy before purchasing filters to make sure you get the right size.
