Question 1

What sensor does the Sony VENICE CineAlta 6K use?

Accepted Answer

The Sony VENICE CineAlta 6K uses a full-frame CMOS sensor with a 24-megapixel resolution and a 1.0x crop factor, meaning there's no field-of-view crop — your PL lenses render at their true focal length.

Question 2

What lens mount does the Sony VENICE use?

Accepted Answer

The VENICE uses a PL (Positive Lock) mount, the industry-standard mount for cinema lenses. This gives you access to a huge range of high-end cinema glass from manufacturers like ARRI, Zeiss, Cooke, and Leica — making it highly compatible in professional rental ecosystems.

Question 3

What storage media does the Sony VENICE CineAlta 6K support?

Accepted Answer

According to the spec sheet, the VENICE CineAlta 6K lists CFexpress Type B and SD card slots. Note: storage configuration details are best verified against the specific unit listing, as cinema cameras of this class may use proprietary recording workflows depending on firmware and accessories.

Question 4

How heavy is the Sony VENICE CineAlta 6K?

Accepted Answer

The VENICE CineAlta 6K body weighs 3,900 grams. That's a professional cinema camera weight class — it's designed to be rigged on a cinema rig, dolly, or crane rather than used handheld without a shoulder mount or support system.

Question 5

What battery does the Sony VENICE use?

Accepted Answer

The VENICE CineAlta 6K runs on the BP-FL75 battery. On a professional cinema set, extended shooting days typically call for an external power solution via the camera's power input — check the specific unit listing for included accessories.

Question 6

Is the Sony VENICE CineAlta 6K a full-frame camera?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the VENICE CineAlta 6K has a full-frame sensor format with a 1.0x crop factor. This is a major advantage for wide-angle cinematography and for getting the most out of large-format PL glass.

Question 7

Is buying a used Sony VENICE CineAlta 6K worth it?

Accepted Answer

For production companies, rental houses, or owner-operators, a second-hand VENICE CineAlta 6K offers access to a professional full-frame cinema platform at a significantly lower entry point than new. The camera is built to cinema-grade durability standards, so used bodies are commonly found in excellent condition. All used VENICE cameras on Camera-tweedehands.nl include a minimum 12 months warranty and are professionally inspected.

Question 8

How does the Sony VENICE compare to other cinema cameras with a PL mount?

Accepted Answer

The PL mount on the VENICE puts it in the same lens ecosystem as other professional PL-mount cinema cameras commonly found on film sets. This means a VENICE can share lenses across a multi-camera production setup — a practical advantage when renting glass or working with established lens packages in a rental house inventory.

Question 9

Can the Sony VENICE CineAlta 6K be used for commercial and advertising shoots?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. The full-frame CMOS sensor and 6K resolution give post-production teams plenty of latitude for reframing, VFX work, and delivering to multiple formats. The PL mount also means established commercial directors of photography can bring their preferred lens kits without adapters. Music videos and streaming originals are other common use cases where the VENICE's full-frame imaging shines.

Question 10

What does 'CineAlta' mean on the Sony VENICE?

Accepted Answer

CineAlta is Sony's professional cinema camera line, used on productions that require broadcast and theatrical-grade image quality. The VENICE CineAlta 6K sits at the top of that lineup, targeting feature film and high-end commercial production environments.

Question 11

What condition grades are available for used Sony VENICE cameras?

Accepted Answer

Camera-tweedehands.nl grades used Sony cinema cameras by condition, and every item is individually photographed so you can assess cosmetic and functional state before buying. Each listing clearly shows the grade, and all cameras come with a minimum 12 months warranty regardless of condition.

Question 12

Does the Sony VENICE CineAlta 6K support anamorphic lenses?

Accepted Answer

The PL mount on the VENICE is compatible with anamorphic PL lenses, which are widely used in cinema for their characteristic widescreen look and lens flare rendering. The full-frame sensor also gives you a larger canvas to work with when using anamorphic glass.
