Carl Zeiss from Oberkochen has existed since 1846 and the optical designs Planar, Distagon, Sonnar and Biogon are the basis of much of what is built today. The current photo lines are clear: Batis (autofocus, weather-sealed, OLED distance scale) and Loxia (compact, manual) for Sony E, Milvus (manual, weather-sealed, de-click option) and Otus (the absolute optical maximum, 28mm, 55mm, 85mm and 100mm f/1.4) for Canon EF and Nikon F, and Touit for APS-C mirrorless. Plus the ZEISS lenses built for other brands, such as the Sony ZA line and the Hasselblad V lenses, and the classic Contax/Yashica optics.
On used ZEISS we check the glass extra carefully for scratches, dust, fungus and, on older items, haze and balsam separation; the focus and aperture rings for smoothness; on Batis and Touit the autofocus and the contacts; on Milvus and Loxia the de-click switch. Every item has photos and an honest condition description, including series and coating generation where relevant.
Choose Batis for a compact autofocus kit on Sony, Loxia for manual video and street work, Milvus for DSLR users and Otus when only the best counts. We buy your old ZEISS glass and settle it straight away.
