Premium Used Leica Gear

Leica is the most value-retaining camera brand there is, and with over 900 products our Leica range is one of the largest in the Netherlands: digital and analogue M bodies, the Q and SL series, more than three hundred lenses and an extensive collection of accessories.

Why a used Leica?

With no other brand is buying used as natural as with Leica: a large share of all Leicas in the world are older than their owner and still work. M glass from the sixties fits the newest digital body and holds its value like few other possessions. The market confirms it every day: well-maintained M bodies and Summicrons barely drop in price, and sought-after versions even rise. Passing on a Leica is the finest form of sustainability: these cameras are built to last generations.

M, Q, SL or analogue?

  • M series — the classic rangefinder, digital and analogue, with lenses that have fitted since 1954. The M11 family (M11, M11-P, M11 Monochrom) leads the demand.
  • Q line — full-frame compact with a fixed Summilux; the Q2 and Q3 are the favourite entry into Leica land.
  • SL — the modern autofocus system on L-mount, also lovely with M glass through an adapter.
  • Analogue — the M6 and M3 remain the reference for film photography, and the R SLRs are the brand's quiet bargains.
  • Lenses — the Summilux-M 35mm and Summicron-M 35mm ASPH are the eternal classics, and the Noctilux-M 50mm f/0.95 remains the dream lens.

What we look for in used Leica

With Leica in particular, provenance and condition count. Our specialists check the calibration of the rangefinder — the one point an M must be checked on — alongside the shutter, sensor and electronics. The glass goes under bright light: fungus, haze and cleaning marks directly affect a Leica's value and rendering. On digital Ms we know the sensitivities per generation and inspect accordingly; on analogue bodies we measure the shutter speeds and the light meter. We also describe the cosmetic condition precisely, because for collectors it partly determines the price, and we note particulars such as 6-bit coding. Every copy comes with its own photos and a 12-month warranty.

Selling a Leica?

For Leica we pay above-average prices, also for analogue classics and loose lenses. Request an offer online; offsetting against a purchase is possible straight away. The full lens range is listed under Leica lenses, and trying one on is always possible in Geldermalsen.

Buying used Leica: M, SL, Q or film?

Leica from Wetzlar built the first 35mm camera in 1914 and has made the M series since 1954: rangefinder cameras with manual focus, from the mechanical M3 and M6 to the digital M10, M11 and the M11 Monochrom. The M lenses, from the Summicron 35mm and 50mm to the Noctilux 50mm f/0.95, are compact, hand-built and last for generations. There is also the mirrorless SL system with autofocus (SL2, SL3) and L-Mount lenses, the Q series with a fixed 28mm lens, and the R SLRs that get a second life on mirrorless cameras with an adapter.

Leicas hold their value, so a used purchase is also financially sound, provided the item really is what it seems. On M cameras we check the rangefinder alignment, the shutter and actuation count, the sensor and the battery; on lenses the glass for haze and fungus, the focus and aperture rings, and on 6-bit coded versions the coding. Every item has photos and an honest condition description.

Starting with Leica? A used M10 or M (Typ 240) with a Summicron 35mm or 50mm is a classic starting point; for autofocus look at the SL2 or the Q2. We buy your current Leica kit and settle it straight away.
